Based on his recent stints on “WWE Raw,” Dragon Lee seems poised for elevation to the WWE main roster. The latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reveals that WWE’s higher-ups have taken note of Lee’s engaging rivalry with Dominik Mysterio. Consequently, they’ve decided to elevate him from “WWE NXT.” As per the report, the initial agreement when Lee inked his contract with WWE last year was for the ex-NJPW and AAA sensation to have a one-year run in “NXT.” It remains uncertain whether this duration started from his signing date in December or from his subsequent on-screen debut. Regardless, it seems his promotion is ahead of schedule.
Lee’s formal introduction to WWE viewers came when he was summoned by Wes Lee during the March 21 “NXT” episode. Subsequently, he participated in a quintuple-threat contest for the “WWE NXT” North American Championship at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver on April 1, a day preceding WWE WrestleMania 39.

Over the past few months, Lee’s storyline centered around his contest with Mysterio for the aforementioned title, with Mustafa Ali also playing a part. Although Lee vied for the belt twice, he couldn’t clinch it. Their most recent championship bout aired on the September 25 “Raw” episode, spotlighting the masked wrestler to an even larger audience than “NXT.”
Before his WWE tenure, Lee delivered exceptional performances against top talents such as Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Bandido, among others. At 28, Lee was reportedly in a position to choose between WWE and AEW (having appeared there previously). He sided with WWE, allegedly due to AEW’s saturated talent pool during that period.
