CM Punk might be making a sensational return to WWE.
Once considered an improbable scenario given his dramatic exit from WWE, CM Punk is now rumored to be re-entering the WWE fold. Since his controversial departure in 2014, the celebrated wrestler distanced himself from the company, facing lawsuits and making headlines with podcast discussions. He even contemplated the end of his wrestling days.
However, the emergence of AEW brought Punk back to the wrestling landscape in August 2021. Although he achieved notable successes with AEW, his stint was overshadowed by backstage confrontations and conflicts. This tumultuous relationship culminated in his termination after a dispute with Jack Perry and Tony Khan.
Now, as a free agent, the buzz is that Punk could potentially be WWE-bound. Speculations are further fueled by the upcoming Survivor Series slated to be in Chicago, or at the very least, in nearby Rosemont.
Dave Meltzer, in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, lends some credence to these whispers. He mentions ongoing discussions between Punk and WWE, while also highlighting that no formal agreement has been reached.
He noted, “On the topic of C.M. Punk, there’s substantial chatter about his potential comeback. Although some say it’s in the works, WWE insiders maintain that no official agreement is in place. Those familiar with Punk have indicated his intent to return and confirmed ongoing negotiations. Given the circumstances, if an agreement is reached, the ideal moment for a surprise comeback would be the Survivor Series weekend in Chicago.”
Moreover, WWE’s recent episodes of Raw appear to have dropped several hints or references to CM Punk, piquing the curiosity of dedicated fans.
