WWE Releases NXT’s Ikemen Jiro
In the latest round of WWE’s budget cuts, it has been confirmed that Ikemen Jiro is among those who have lost their jobs. This release was first reported by PWInsider.
The 31-year-old wrestler hailing from Tokyo, whose real name is Sōjirō Higuchi, joined WWE in December of 2020. Prior to his WWE career, he spent almost seven years with the Japanese promotion WRESTLE-1, where he wrestled under the name Jiro “Ikemen” Kuroshio.
During his time in WWE, he initially appeared on 205 Live and later transitioned to NXT. Jiro was known for his comedic persona in WWE, often seen wearing colorful blazers while wrestling. His most notable role on television was as one-half of the Jacket Time tag team alongside KUSHIDA.
After KUSHIDA’s departure from WWE and his return to New Japan Pro-Wrestling in the middle of last year, Jiro continued to compete in NXT and its subsidiary show, Level Up. However, his appearances were not geared toward gaining television prominence.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ikemen Jiro in the world of professional wrestling.
