Just over half a year ago, Jey Uso stood by Roman Reigns as he vanquished Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. Rhodes’ journey to “complete the narrative” and capture the WWE Undisputed Heavyweight Championship came to a halt. Fast forward to tonight, Uso and Rhodes found common ground, clinching the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships by besting Finn Balor and Damian Priest from The Judgment Day.
The match showcased a series of intense exchanges, but the dynamics shifted when Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio rushed to the side of their Judgment Day companions. Mysterio took a superkick from Uso, who then momentarily got sidetracked by his recent interactions with Ripley. This diversion was ample for Priest, as Uso re-engaged, leading to a quick hurricanrana by the Money in the Bank holder. Unfortunately, it seemed like Priest hurt his knee during the move.
That injury became crucial in the closing moments. As Priest tried to slam Rhodes into the announcers’ table, JD McDonagh emerged, swinging the Money in the Bank briefcase. However, he missed Rhodes and struck Priest’s already compromised knee. Back in the ring, Uso and Rhodes demonstrated synergy: Uso restrained Balor, setting him up for Rhodes’ impactful Cody Cutter that closely resembled a 1D, sealing the victory with a three-count.
