Stephanie Hym Lee, also known as Mia Yim or Michin to wrestling fans, is an American wrestler currently signed to WWE.
Lets take a look at where it all began… Born in Los Angeles, California, Michin has been wrestling for many years in brands such as WWE/NXT, Impact Wrestling, Combat Zone Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, plus many more!
Fun fact before we talk about her wrestling career, Michin is a lover of volleyball! She attended Marymount University on a volleyball scholarship and played until her senior year. As a child, she always had a love for wrestling.
She began training at a wrestling school in Virginia at the age of 18 while attending college, she trained for a year and a half before making appearances for independent promotions around the area. Before the age of 21, she was seen wrestling at Jersey All Pro Wrestling & appearing on ROH, alongside other wrestling brands.
Sounds like someone who is very determined! Am I right?
Following on from this… Michin went on to wrestle in places such as Universal Woman’s Pro Wrestling, Combat Zone Wrestling & Shine Wrestling, before moving on to TNA. 2010 came along fast and Michin started to wrestle at TNA up until 2017. She had a successful time in Impact/TNA as she was TNA Knockouts Champion, crowned Queen of the Knockouts in 2016 & won the TNA world cup in 2016.
Her WWE journey actually began in 2014 where she appeared in WWE a number of times as one of Adam Rose’s rose buds. After her time at TNA, she returned to WWE by entering the Mae Young Classic tournament where she defeated Sarah Logan in her first round match. Unfortunately, she bowed out in the next round to Shayna Baszler..
Moving on to 2018, she was signed to WWE and would begin working with NXT, where she went on to establish herself as a face. In the next 2 years she went on to do the following…
· Feud with Bianca Belair
· Make her main roster debut as part of the NXT talent that were included in the Raw and Smackdown invasions as part of the Survivor Series pay-per-view.
· Join forces with Tegan Nox & Shotzi to take on Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez & Candice Le Rae after Dakota Kai had attacked her backstage previously.
On September 21st 2020, several weeks after her last appearance on NXT, Michin appeared on Raw and instantly turned heel by revealing she was a part of the stable ‘Reckoning’. A few months later, the stable led by Mustafa Ali disbanded & Michin was assigned to the Smackdown brand. In July the following year, she was then traded back to the Raw brand in exchange for Naomi…
As part of the 2021 draft, the Reckoning character was dropped and she was officially drafted. Unfortunately, she was released not long after without ever reappearing on TV.
Michin then went on to return to the independent circuit and Impact until 2022. But guess what…. She was brought back to WWE!!! And thank goodness because she was always a warrior.
When she returned to WWE, she joined the OC and took on the Judgment Day at Survivor Series War games, coming out the winners! He official ring name was changed to ‘Michin’ which to no surprise means ‘CRAZY’. A cute backstory as it is what her mum used as a nickname for her growing up.
Moving forward to 2024, she was entered into the most recent Royal Rumble, where she lasted 5 minutes before getting eliminated by the brute of Nia Jax! Mia Yim / Michin is a force to be reckoned with in WWE, she still has a very bright future ahead of her,
I just really hope she gets this hug off AJ Styles soon…..
