AEW Dynamite headed to Toronto, this week with two hometown stars colliding in the main event that was nothing but gruesome.
In the end, a new TNT Champion was crowned which produced a perfect homecoming moment for the Rated R Superstar. On the March 20 episode of AEW Dynamite, “Edge” Adam Copeland defeated Christian Cage in an “I Quit” Match to win the TNT Championship.
This match also marked the end of a brutal rivalry that’s been going on since last year’s October. The latter then made a triumphant return to AEW last week to set up this matchup. Introducing multiple foreign objects including tables, ladders, and chairs into the match, the two unleashed punishments onto one another.
The Patriarchy interfered but Adam received timely backup from Christian’s former rivals, Daddy Magic and Daniel Garcia. Alongside Nick Wayne and Luchasauras, Cage was handcuffed and defenseless as Adam delivered a low blow. He then brought Spike into the equation which forced Cage to say “I Quit” to end this dramatic showdown. P
In other news on AEW Dynamite, Kazuchika Okada defeated Eddie Kingston to win the AEW Continental Championship and thus the triple-crown title in the promotion no longer exists. Also, Okada captured a title in his second-only match as a full-time AEW wrestler.
Kingston had been a triple champion since December 30 after he was crowned the inaugural champion in the finals of the AEW Continental Classic.
