The recent roster changes in WWE have caused a stir, particularly regarding the exit of Mustafa Ali.
On September 21st, in a move to trim expenses, WWE let go of several of its main roster and NXT Superstars. Mustafa Ali and Dolph Ziggler’s departures particularly shocked fans.
While Ziggler boasts a past World Champion title, Ali had been a consistent presence in NXT lately and was even slated to compete at No Mercy. This sudden move reportedly caused much turmoil backstage, with many pointing to a glaring communication gap.
Fightful Select has reported that numerous individuals were discontented with Ali’s release, citing a notable “frustration” due to the lack of transparency regarding the decision.
Even as his departure neared, there was no hint of Ali exiting, and he remained active in the lead-up to No Mercy. Given the ongoing efforts to spotlight key names in NXT, of which Ali and his intended rival, Dominik Mysterio, are a part, the sudden cancellation of their match came as a surprise.
