Jey Uso defeated Jimmy Uso with a Spear and a Samoan Splash in a Brother vs. Brother Match at WrestleMania 40.
Jimmy and Jey Uso will forever be associated with one another as a legendary tag team. At one point, early on in their run as The Usos, it was nearly impossible to tell them apart. But through cinematic storyline development of The Bloodline, including the dramatic breakup of Jimmy and Jey, The Usos have each found their own voice.
Jey Uso’s arc saw him leave the group entirely, while Jimmy temporarily joined his brother in exiting The Bloodline, only to come home and back to Roman Reigns. The result has seen the evolution of Main Event Jey Uso, a nickname seemingly spoken into existence and manifested through top-tier booking. Jimmy vs. Jey is the third Brother vs. Brother Match in WrestleMania history, joining Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (WrestleMania 10) and Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy (WrestleMania 25).
Though so few Brother vs. Brother Matches have happened in WrestleMania history, the bar remains very high with the aforementioned classic between Bret and Owen at WrestleMania 10, which is widely considered one of the greatest matches ever. Though Jimmy vs. Jey had its moments, Bret vs. Owen remains the greatest Brother vs. Brother Match in WrestleMania history.
The Bloodline is essentially pro wrestling’s version of Cheers. A classic that was so popular it led to multiple successful spinoffs. The Bloodline’s legacy will be one of storytelling so good it spawned top singles stars in Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso (to a lesser degree) and inevitably Solo Sikoa; all while giving the wrestling world the heel version of Roman Reigns he should have been years ago. But better late than never. This win for Jey Uso will continue his path to singles super stardom as a babyface, even as The Usos are playing with house money when it comes to their Hall of Fame careers.
