In WWE NXT, Brian Pillman Jr. will no longer go by that name.
According to PWInsider, WWE plans to utilize its freshly registered ‘Lexis King’ trademark as the new moniker for Pillman Jr., who has been hinted at making a debut in NXT soon.
The rebranded name is possibly a nod to Pillman Jr.’s familial ties. His sister, known as Lexi and whose full name was Alexis, sadly passed in 2009. Additionally, his mother, Melanie Pillman-King, departed just last year. Earlier in his wrestling journey, Pillman Jr. used the name ‘Alex King.’
The legacy of Pillman Jr.’s father, Brian Pillman, looms large in the wrestling world. He’s a celebrated figure, primarily recognized for his stint in WCW, though he also had a memorable WWE stretch from 1996 to 1997 before his untimely death in October 1997.
In July 2023, Pillman Jr. had his initial WWE tryout at the Performance Center, shortly after the conclusion of his AEW contract. WWE’s current NXT promotions appear to be emphasizing his father’s iconic legacy.
