Cody Rhodes Defeats Damian Priest At Crown Jewel:
At WWE’s Crown Jewel premium live event, Cody Rhodes overcame “The Punisher” Damian Priest from Judgment Day, thanks to an assist from his ally Jey Uso. After Uso intervened to fend off the rest of the Judgment Day crew, Rhodes managed to deliver a trio of Cross Rhodes on Priest, clinching the win. Earlier in the evening, Priest’s Money In The Bank briefcase had been swiped by Sami Zayn, leaving him without the coveted item as he entered the ring.
The bout kicked off with Priest arriving solo, but it wasn’t long before his Judgment Day cohorts emerged. Priest aggressively ambushed Rhodes from the get-go, catching him off-guard before he could even shed his jacket. Nonetheless, Rhodes quickly regained his footing, launching the match with vigor. A highpoint saw Rhodes execute a suicide dive, slamming Priest onto the Arabic announce desk. Priest countered at one juncture, transforming Rhodes’ Cross Rhodes attempt into his signature Reckoning on the table.
Finn Balor’s entrance created a diversion, allowing JD McDonagh to try and take down Rhodes, but it was Rhodes who struck McDonagh. Priest nearly secured a pin in the midst of the chaos. However, the tides turned when Dominik Mysterio appeared wielding a chair, prompting Uso to rush to the rescue. Uso unleashed superkicks on Mysterio, Balor, and McDonagh, wielding the chair to send them scattering.
The battle raged on, with Rhodes pulling off a Cody Cutter from the ropes followed by another from the top rope. Ultimately, it took a sequence of three successive Cross Rhodes to finally subdue Priest, enabling Rhodes to claim a hard-fought victory on Saudi soil.
I feel like WWE made the right call with this one.. but what is next for both superstars?
