In the lead-up to AEW Grand Slam, scheduled to unfold at Queens, New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 20th, 2023, Wheeler Yuta has encountered what appears to be an injury setback, casting doubt on his participation in the event. Yuta’s injury forced him out of an upcoming independent wrestling show.
Yuta had been slated to step into the squared circle at Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations’ Steelstacks Smackdown II in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, scheduled for Saturday. However, the promotion took to social media platform ‘X’ in advance to announce that the Superstar would only be able to fulfill the meet-and-greet portion of his appearance due to an unspecified injury:
“Unfortunately, @wheeleryuta has suffered an injury and is unable to compete this Sat @ STEELSTACKS SMACKDOWN II. We have, however, confirmed his participation in the pre-show Meet & Greet! Get an autograph and photo op with one of the hottest rising stars of televised wrestling!”
Since his last appearance at AEW All Out on September 3rd, where Yuta partnered with fellow Blackpool Combat Club member Claudio Castagnoli in Chicago for a victorious bout against Katsuyori Shibata and Eddie Kingston, he has not competed in any matches.
