The Rise Of Lyra Valkyria

by | Sep 24, 2023 | NXT News | 0 comments

In the ever-evolving realm of WWE, up-and-coming stars frequently captivate audiences around the globe. A prime example of such burgeoning talent is Lyra Valkyria, who boasts an estimated net worth of around $1 Million US Dollars as of 2023.

But what’s the story behind this NXT sensation’s rise to prominence? Let’s explore her journey.

Lyra Valkyria is a name that has swiftly gained recognition in the WWE universe, particularly following her praiseworthy bout against WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley.

This encounter not only highlighted her capabilities but also sparked curiosity among fans eager to learn more about this rising superstar.

Lyra Valkyria: From Childhood Aspirations to NXT Stardom

Lyra’s enthusiasm for wrestling has roots in her early years. Motivated by her love for the sport, she set out on her professional wrestling odyssey in May 2015, demonstrating her prowess in British and Irish-based wrestling promotions.

Her commitment and skills didn’t remain in the shadows. By January 2020, Lyra had inked a deal with WWE, adopting the ring name “Aoife Valkyrie” and making her presence felt in NXT UK.

While her stint with NXT UK was relatively brief due to its shutdown in 2022, Lyra’s journey was far from over.

Transitioning to NXT with her current ring name, Lyra persistently dazzled the audience, earning a spot in the NXT Women’s Championship match in March 2023.

The Origins of a Champion

Born Aoife Cusack on October 23, 1996, in Dublin, Ireland, Lyra’s infatuation with WWE emerged in her teens.

She looked up to female icons such as AJ Lee, Paige, and Sasha Banks, a fascination that led her to hone her skills at Fight Factory Pro Wrestling.

Her 2015 debut was under the alias “Valkyrie Cain”, paying homage to the protagonist of Derek Landy’s Skulduggery Pleasant series.

Harmonizing the Ring and Education

Contrary to what some might believe, Lyra didn’t solely concentrate on wrestling; she successfully juggled her passion with academic pursuits. She furthered her education at Dublin City University, earning her degree in November 2018.

Post-graduation, she redirected her undivided attention towards wrestling, with the ambition to leave an indelible mark in the industry.

Life Beyond the Ring

Lyra’s life outside the wrestling arena is as captivating as her athletic feats. She has shared a romantic bond with Ireland-based professional wrestler LJ Cleary for almost a decade.

Their connection extends beyond their personal realm; the duo has collaborated for mixed tag-team matches in Irish promotions.

Presently, while Lyra is creating ripples in WWE NXT, LJ Cleary is exhibiting his skills across independent circuits in the UK, Ireland, Japan, and more.

A Bright Horizon

Lyra Valkyria may still be establishing her foothold in the NXT women’s division, but her recent endeavors reflect her abundant talent.

With her continuous clash against top contenders, it won’t be long before she lays her hands on the championship title.
