Ten Official Matches Set for AEW WrestleDream Pay-Per-View

by | Sep 28, 2023 | AEW News | 0 comments

The highly-anticipated AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view has officially confirmed ten matches, following a series of events at Grand Slam and Collision, which led to modifications in the card. Notably, while a new match has been added, an alteration in a title match was necessitated due to unforeseen circumstances.

After suffering a Texas Death match loss to Bryan Danielson at Collision, Ricky Starks asserted that he wasn’t officially defeated as Danielson hadn’t pinned or submitted him. Wheeler Yuta intervened, challenging Starks’ prowess and laying down a challenge for a match at WrestleDream.

In a turn of events, Adam Cole, hobbling on crutches, revealed the unfortunate news of his ankle break sustained at Grand Slam, confirming the need for surgery. However, MJF, Cole’s best friend, stepped up, vowing to defend the Ring of Honor Tag Titles against The Righteous single-handedly at WrestleDream.

Updated Match Card:

  • Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  • Hangman Page vs. Swerve Strickland
  • FTR (c) vs. Aussie Open (AEW Tag Team Championships)
  • MJF vs. The Righteous (Handicap match for the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships)
  • Eddie Kingston (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata (NJPW Strong & ROH World Championship)
  • Christian Cage (c) vs. Darby Allin (Two out of three falls match for the TNT Championship)
  • Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart (TBS Championship)
  • Will Ospreay, Konosuke Takeshita, and Sammy Guevara vs. Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Chris Jericho
  • Lucha Brothers vs. Hook & Orange Cassidy vs. The Gunns vs. The Young Bucks (Winners earn a shot at the AEW Tag Team Championships)
  • Wheeler Yuta vs. Ricky Starks

Event Details:

AEW WrestleDream, the next significant milestone in AEW’s calendar, is scheduled to be broadcasted live from Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle, Washington, on October 1st. This event, commemorating the one-year anniversary of Antonio Inoki’s passing, is dedicated to the New Japan founder, celebrated by Tony Khan as “wrestling’s greatest dreamer.”
