Chris Jericho has consistently supported young talent in AEW. But with his extensive history, he’s had to innovate in how he does it. And the way he boosted Powerhouse Hobbs during AEW Dynamite’s Title Tuesday was notably impactful.
In essence, he was dominated.
Right from the start, Hobbs overwhelmed Jericho with heavy strikes, leaving the Ocho struggling to find his footing.
Jericho managed to land his signature Code Breaker, but it wasn’t enough to keep the colossal Hobbs down. He also attempted his famed Walls of Jericho, but Hobbs powered through. Aside from these moments, the match was dominated by Hobbs.
The move sealing Jericho’s fate was a double power slam. Don Callis watched in delight as Hobbs delivered another slam after the match for emphasis.
Kenny Omega was absent, presumably still recovering from Hobbs’ assault the previous week, leaving Jericho without any backup.
For Hobbs, who had been wandering without a clear direction for some time, this victory might be the turning point he needs.
