Biography

Born as Glenn Thomas Jacobs on April 26, 1967, the man who would become known to the world as Kane is one of the most dominant figures in professional wrestling. Born in Torrejón de Ardoz, Spain, Kane made his professional wrestling debut in 1992. However, it was his transformation into “The Big Red Machine” in the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) that catapulted him to international fame.

Career History and Evolution

Jacobs’ early wrestling career was marked by numerous gimmicks, from “Unabomb” in Smoky Mountain Wrestling to “Isaac Yankem, DDS”, Jerry Lawler’s private dentist, and the imposter “Diesel” in WWF. His career truly took off in 1997 when he was introduced as Kane, the half-brother of The Undertaker.
As Kane, Jacobs embodied an intimidating figure with supernatural storyline elements. The character has evolved significantly over the years, from being a mute monster who communicated through gestures to a speaking character, often showing a dark sense of humor.

Titles and Achievements

Throughout his career, Kane has held numerous titles in the WWE. These include the WWF Championship, ECW Championship, and two-time WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Kane is also a record-setting Tag Team Champion, having clinched the WWF/World Tag Team Championship nine times with various partners, and the WWE Tag Team Championships twice.
Additionally, Kane won the third annual Money in the Bank ladder match in 2010, and he also holds the record for the most cumulative eliminations in the Royal Rumble match history.

Biggest Matches and Rivalries

Kane’s debut at Bad Blood: In Your House in 1997, interfering in the inaugural Hell in a Cell match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, is one of the most iconic moments in WWE history. This set the stage for a long-term, on-and-off feud with The Undertaker, with several memorable matches between the “Brothers of Destruction”.
His feud with Triple H, including their memorable “Mask vs Title” match in 2003 where Kane was unmasked for the first time, stands as another pivotal rivalry in his career.

Tag Team Partners

Kane has had several tag team partners, including The Undertaker, Mankind (Mick Foley), X-Pac, The Hurricane, Big Show, and Daniel Bryan. His partnership with Bryan, known as Team Hell No, was particularly entertaining, providing comic relief while still maintaining their in-ring prowess.

Family Life

In real life, Jacobs is married to Crystal Maurisa Goins since 1995, and they have two daughters. He is not related to Mark Calaway (The Undertaker), but their characters in WWE have a storied history as half-brothers.

Finishing Move

Kane’s finishing moves are the Chokeslam and the Tombstone Piledriver, both feats of strength that further his intimidating in-ring presence. His other notable move is a top-rope lariat, known as a Flying Clothesline.

Clothing and Entrance Music

Kane’s costume has evolved over the years. Initially, he wore a full-body suit to cover burns (in storyline), complete with a mask that only showed one eye and his mouth. Over time, he moved to a sleeveless version before finally unmasking in 2003. His post-unmask attire usually consists of a tank top and wrestling tights, both in his signature red and black.
Kane’s entrance music, “Burned” by Jim Johnston, along with his red lighting and fire pyrotechnics, creates an imposing presence, fully embracing his “Big Red Machine” persona.
Kane’s career, marked by his chilling presence and numerous championship reigns, solidifies him as one of the cornerstones of WWE’s history. His impact on professional wrestling extends beyond the ring, given his successful transition into politics, serving as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, since 2018.
