Biography

Jeffrey Leonard Jarrett, known professionally as Jeff Jarrett, was born on July 14, 1967, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Coming from a family with deep roots in the wrestling business, Jarrett made his mark not only as a performer but also as a wrestling promoter.

Career History and Evolution

Jeff began his wrestling career in his father Jerry Jarrett’s promotion, Continental Wrestling Association (CWA), in 1986. He moved to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1992, where he became known as “Double J,” a country singer turned wrestler. His character would evolve over time to become “The Chosen One.”
Jarrett left WWF in 1996 to join World Championship Wrestling (WCW) but returned to WWF in 1997. He then went back to WCW in 1999, where he remained until its closure in 2001.
In 2002, Jarrett co-founded Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling, a promotion that has become a significant player in the industry.

Titles Won and Biggest Matches

Jeff Jarrett is a multi-time world champion, having held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship four times and the NWA World Heavyweight Championship six times in TNA. He also won the WWF Intercontinental Championship six times.
Some of his biggest matches include clashing with Shawn Michaels at In Your House 2 for the Intercontinental Championship and his many battles with AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, and Raven in TNA.

Biggest Rivalries and Tag Team Partners

Jarrett had intense rivalries with many wrestlers over his career, including names like Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Sting, and Razor Ramon. While primarily known as a singles competitor, Jarrett had notable tag team partnerships with Owen Hart in WWF and Booker T in WCW.

Family Life

Jeff Jarrett is the son of Jerry Jarrett, a wrestling promoter. He is married to Karen Jarrett, and they have two daughters together. He also has two children from his previous marriage to Jill Jarrett, who sadly passed away in 2007.

Finishing Move, Clothing, and Entrance Music

Jarrett’s finishing move is “The Stroke,” a facebuster that he used to finish off many opponents. His wrestling attire typically consisted of flashy wrestling tights, often in his signature color of white and gold, along with a pair of sunglasses.
His most famous entrance music is “With My Baby Tonight,” a country song he used during his “Double J” character run in WWF.

Legacy

Jeff Jarrett has left an indelible mark on the wrestling industry. His wrestling skills and ability to play both a face and heel character added to his appeal. However, his contribution extends beyond the ring. As co-founder of TNA, he provided a platform for new talents to showcase their skills and gave wrestling fans an alternative to WWE. Jarrett was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018, solidifying his place in wrestling history.
