Biography

Bubba Ray Dudley, born Mark LoMonaco on July 14, 1971, in Queens, New York, is a professional wrestler best known for his time with the WWE and ECW. LoMonaco, who also competed as “Bully Ray” during his tenure in TNA, is recognized for his hardcore wrestling style and commanding on-mic presence.

Career History and Evolution

Bubba Ray Dudley began his wrestling career in 1991. However, it was in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) that he rose to prominence in the mid-1990s as part of The Dudley Boyz, alongside his kayfabe half-brother, D-Von Dudley. The team was a central part of the company’s trademark hardcore style.
In 1999, The Dudley Boyz moved to the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE), where they became one of the most decorated tag teams in the company’s history. Bubba Ray also occasionally competed as a singles competitor, particularly during the brand split era.
In 2005, he and D-Von left WWE and moved to TNA (Total Nonstop Action), where Bubba Ray evolved into “Bully Ray,” a singles competitor with a vicious, bullying gimmick. He returned to WWE in 2015 and then continued wrestling on the independent circuit.

Titles Won and Biggest Matches

As part of The Dudley Boyz, Bubba Ray is a 10-time WWF/World Tag Team Champion. In TNA, as Bully Ray, he became a two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Some of his biggest matches include the iconic Tables, Ladders, and Chairs (TLC) matches against Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz at WrestleMania 2000 and 17. His singles feud with Jeff Hardy in TNA, culminating in a brutal steel cage match at Lockdown 2013, is also noteworthy.

Biggest Rivalries and Tag Team Partners

Bubba Ray’s most significant rivalries include the aforementioned feuds with Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz. In TNA, his feuds with Jeff Hardy, Sting, and Aces & Eights were highlights of his singles career.
His most influential tag team partner is unquestionably D-Von Dudley. The Dudley Boyz are considered one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history.

Family Life

Bubba Ray Dudley has kept his personal life relatively private. He was once in a long-term relationship with former professional wrestler Velvet Sky.

Finishing Move, Clothing, and Entrance Music

Bubba Ray’s finishing move as part of The Dudley Boyz was the “3D” or Dudley Death Drop, a flapjack/cutter combination move. As Bully Ray in TNA, he used a sitout full nelson atomic drop, dubbed the “Bubba Bomb.”
Bubba Ray Dudley is known for his casual and hardcore ring attire, often seen in camouflage pants, a tank top or t-shirt, and taped fists or wristbands.
His WWE entrance theme was “We’re Coming Down” by Jim Johnston, while in TNA, he used “Deadman’s Hand” by Dale Oliver.

Legacy

Bubba Ray Dudley has left a significant mark on professional wrestling, particularly in the realm of tag team and hardcore wrestling. His legendary status was cemented when he and D-Von were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018 as The Dudley Boyz.
