Last night, the Major League Baseball playoffs set the stage for a nostalgic face-off reminiscent of both the Monday and Wednesday Night Wars. This happened when “AEW Dynamite” clashed directly with “WWE NXT.” To gain the upper hand, both shows went all out, showcasing wrestling luminaries such as John Cena, Cody Rhodes, and Undertaker. Ultimately, WWE came out on top on a night where the combined viewership for both events surpassed that of “WWE Raw” from the previous day.
According to Wrestlenomics, “NXT” amassed a viewership of 921,000 and secured a 0.30 rating in the sought-after 18-49 demographic. This signifies the most viewers for “NXT” since September 2019 and the best 18-49 rating since October 2019—the month when the “NXT” and “Dynamite” rivalry commenced. With these stats, “NXT” outperformed in both segments. “Dynamite” drew a total of 609,000 viewers and a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 age group, trailing “NXT” by 50,000 in this pivotal demographic.
This achievement marks only the second time “NXT” has outpaced “Dynamite” in the 18-49 category, with the last win being in December 2019. Besides the stellar lineup, highlights from “NXT” included Ilya Dragunov’s title defense against Dominik Mysterio and a main event showdown between Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker. On the “Dynamite” side, fans witnessed Adam Copeland’s inaugural AEW match versus Luchasaurus, Hikaru Shida’s triumphant victory over Saraya for the AEW Women’s World Championship, and a much-debated segment featuring MJF and Bullet Club Gold.
