He served as the special guest referee in the NXT championship match where Ilja Dragunov, the current champion, defended his title against the North American Champion, Dominik Mysterio.
This bout was orchestrated by the special guest General Manager, Cody Rhodes, after unexpected intrusions from Dirty Dom and Rhea Ripley during a moment between Rhodes and Dragunov following Cody’s series of announcements.
Knight’s role was crucial in neutralizing any advantage The Judgment Day could gain through their usual group tactics to help Dominik secure a victory. And indeed, the crowd was electric, chanting for Knight, seemingly more engrossed in his actions than the match itself.
As anticipated, The Judgment Day tried their usual interference. However, Knight, with a helping hand from Trick Williams, singlehandedly thwarted their plans. Consequently, Dragunov pinned to retain his title.
The post-match scenario was chaotic. Dijak ambushed Knight, and Baron Corbin sought to capitalize on the situation. The rapid sequence of events hints at a fast-paced progression in the storyline.
